Bengals Linebacker Rey Maualuga Hit with DUI *update*

Maualuga apologizes via Twitter

( Covington ) Bengals linebacker Rey Maualuga was arrested at about 2:00am on suspicion of DUI and failure to maintain control, after crashing his car into two parked cars and a parking meter.

Maualuga was booked into the Kenton County Detention Center at about 3:00am and was arraigned in circuit court at 9:00am. He pleaded not guilty and was released on his own reconizance.

Two other people in the car, a juvenile female and an 18-year-old woman were not hurt. Neither were charged. The 2003 Pontiac Sunfire was impounded by Covington Police. Maualuga will be in court for another hearing on February 25th.

An NFL spokesman says Maualuga could face a fine of up to $50,000 from the league for violating it's substance abuse policy. The team has made no comment on his arrest.
